Good afternoon everybody. Good afternoon to all our 12th Monarchs out there in Monarch Nation. Coming off an extremely frustrating loss at home to Western Kentucky. On behalf of myself and the team, a big thank you to all our 12th Monarchs for an outstanding showing at this game. Tremendous energy from the crowd, something we really needed and appreciated. As disappointed and frustrated as we are with this game, as I explained to the team after the game and reiterated again yesterday, in a lot of ways football is a microcosm of life. You go through a lot of things that really test your character and we're going through a stretch right now that is definitely testing our character, but as I told our guys this adversity we're going through defines who you are. You need to be able to handle adversity because ultimately adversity is what defines your character. It's really easy to do well when things are going well for you and your having success on the football field, but similar to life whether its something personal, something with your family, for our players, something with school, you find out a lot about your character and the makeup of who you are as a person with how you deal with and handle adversity. They responded to it, they responded well yesterday. We went out and had a hard physical practice and tried to work on the areas specifically that we need to improve on and that's what we're going to do. In these types of situations particularly when you're part of a team, the number one thing you need to do is you need to unite, you need to trust each other, you need to stick with your beliefs systems, your values, who you are as a person and who you are as a team. I was really proud of the way they responded yesterday, obviously they are very disappointed right now. They know that they should be performing at a high level, we all know that, but we're going to st

Good afternoon everybody. Good afternoon to all our 12th Monarchs out there in Monarch Nation. Coming off a frustrating loss at Marshall this past Saturday. Right now it's simply about execution for all of us; coaches and players. We've got to find a way to execute better than we are at this point. Marshall is an outstanding football team. They rarely lose at home, it was their homecoming. They've got a top-10 defense in the country, but certainly a team that we were playing well with for long stretches of this game. We've just got to find a way to get more explosive, particularly offensively. I felt like we were ready to play in the first half of this game, we ran 37 plays to Marshall's 24 plays. We had more yards than Marshall did, but the telltale of this one was the fact we were inside the 10 twice early in this game and only came away with a field goal. You need to score points when you're down there, particularly against a team that's as hard to move the ball against as Marshall is. Down 7-3 at the half, down 14-3 entering the fourth quarter, it was our inability particularly in the third quarter to get anything going on offense. We didn't have any first downs in that third quarter, putting too much pressure on our defense. Special teams wise, Bailey Cate continues to perform at a high level, 41 yard average on four punts, but we hurt ourselves on kickoff returns. We fumbled the ball and they returned it for a touchdown and we muffed a punt that was well blocked that we could have had an explosive return. Defensively, I felt we were very good in the first three quarters especially. We only allowed 130 yards at the half, one touchdown. Then in the second half we got beat on an out in up, we got beat on a seam ball, we got beat on a fade. They hurt us in the pass game in the second half in some critical areas. A lot of it had to do with executing what we neede

Coming off a disappointing and humbling loss at home to Florida Atlantic. The keys to this game were quite evident as to what I saw during the game, the video confirmed it yesterday and today, it was all about the turnovers on offense, having four turnovers and then poor tackling in this game. The good news is that it's all things that can be corrected and that's what we will work on to correct starting today. Defensively, 39 missed tackles, that's the most missed tackles we've ever had in a football game. That was a combination of technique and scheme by the coaches that we need to get better at and a couple of really good running backs from Florida Atlantic that have some of the top running backs in the league, which I need to give them credit for. The bottom line is we need to coach better and work on that and we'll start on that tomorrow at practice. Offensively, it was the four turnovers and four interceptions. They were situations that could have been avoided. Missed throws by the quarterback, where one time he was waiting on the receiver to break and he's about to get hit in the teeth on a blitz and throws the ball and it goes right by the receiver right to the their defensive back. Another time our receiver gets a hand on the ball and tips it in the air and it's intercepted. So there's definitely things that can be corrected. Our quarterback is trying to do the right things. He's trying to put the ball in the right place and even with those four turnovers we have 75 plays and 411 yards, 28 points. Jeremy Cox has a career high of 202 yards rushing. So we need to do a better job as coaches putting our offense and especially our quarterback in better situations so he can make better decisions. This week our opponent Marshall is 4-1. They look like the Marshall team we're used to seeing in the past. They are playing really good football right
