WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 32 Old Dominion men's tennis team (19-7) fell to No. 29 South Carolina (19-8) by a 4-1 score in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Aziz Kijametovic of the Old Dominion men's tennis team automatically qualified 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championships, as announced by the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee. The singles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C., after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 18-22. Wake Forest University will serve as host.
The No. 32 nationally ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team will take on No. 29 South Carolina in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on either May 11th or 12th in Winston Salem, N.C., which will be hosted by Wake Forest University.
The Old Dominion men's tennis team nearly had a clean sweep of Conference USA specialty awards, as Aziz Kijametovic was named Player of the Year, Dominik Mueller was named Coach of the Year, Vincent Schneider was named Newcomer of the Year and Outstanding Singles Player of the Championship, as well as Outstanding Doubles Team of the Championship with teammate Jannik Geisse.
