Monarchs Set to Wrestle at Navy Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. The Old Dominion (1-1) wrestling team will travel to Annapolis, Md. to compete in the Navy Classic hosted by the United States Naval Academy on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Wrestling Solidifies 2018 Recruiting Class with One More Student-Athlete from the State of Illinois

NORFOLK, Va. - It was announced on Thursday morning by head wrestling coach Steve Martin the addition of Timothy Young of Aurora, Illinois. This will be the fifth student-athlete added from the power-state of Illinois. The total count of Illinois natives on the Old Dominion squad will be 11 for the 2018-2019 season.

NORFOLK, Va. The three-time All-Academic All-American and three-time NCAA Qualifier, Kyle Hutter answered some questions about what he's doing now since graduating Old Dominion in 2011. Hutter was also a the assistant coach at ODU from 2011- 2017.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion (1-1) men's wrestling team defeated Gardner Webb (0-3), 30-3 and fell to No. 24 Northwestern (2-0), 17-16 on Sunday afternoon in front of over 500 fans.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion men's wrestling team will host No. 24 Northwestern and Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Nov. 12 in the Jim Jarrett Gymnasium. Old Dominion will wrestle Northwestern at 1:00 PM ET and Gardner-Webb at 2:30 PM ET. Earlier in the day, Northwestern will wrestle Gardner-Webb at 11:30 AM ET.

ODU Adds Eight for 2018 Class, Four from Power State-Illinois

NORFOLK, Va. Old Dominion University Head Wrestling Coach Steve Martin announced the addition of eight wrestlers on Thursday. "This class satisfied several needs at multiple weigh classes from 125 lbs. to 285 lbs. What we like about this class is that they are all hard workers and hard work is the path to NCAA Titles. They are also great role models and students off the mat," ODU Head Coach Steve Martin said. "Half of this class is from the state of Illinois and that is a major goal for our program. Daryl Thomas and Mike Dixon did an outstanding job securing kids that are the right fit for our program and they are to be commended!" Tyler Delaware - Washington, Ill. - Washington HS - 125/133 Tyler Delaware is an Illinois State Champion and a two-time state finalist. He won the 2016 Greco-Roman Illinois State Championship. Delaware is a 2016 Cadet Freestyle National Team Champion and member of the 2016 Cadet Greco National Dual Team third finish. Daryl Thomas on Delaware "Tyler is a hard nosed kid that comes from one of the best high school programs in the state of Illinois. He fits the mold of being great on and off the mat as he is an exceptional student. He will study computer science." Savion Haywood - Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington - 133/141 Savion Haywood won the 2017 Illinois Greco Roman State Championship and is a three-time Illinois state placer, finishing as high as fourth place. He won the 2017 Conflict at Carver Championship and was an All-American with a third place finish at the 2017 preseason national tournament. ROANOKE, Va. The Old Dominion wrestling team competed at the Hokie Open hosted by Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Budock and Killian Cardinale were crowned Hokie Open Champions, while Larry Early III defeated Stanford's 2017 All-American.

ROANOKE, Va. The Old Dominion wrestling team will travel to Roanoke, Va. to compete in the Hokie Open, formerly known as the Southeast Open on Sunday, Nov. 5. The event hosted by Virginia Tech will be held at the Berglund Special Events Center in Roanoke, Va. The field will consist of wrestlers that are unattached to a team as well as team scoring wrestlers.
