NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig announced a contract extension for head women's soccer coach Angie Hind on Thursday. "Angie and her staff have done a remarkable job elevating the national profile and success of ODU women's soccer in a very competitive C-USA. She has ODU positioned to continue our rise to national prominence in women's soccer," Selig said. "Hosting the C-USA Women's Soccer Championship this fall at ODU will be a treat for our fans and a great opportunity for our women's soccer team to showcase their talent locally against some of the best teams in the country. Angie is most deserving of her new contract and extension." The new extension is for four years and will run through the 2021 season. "I am absolutely thrilled to extend my contract here at ODU. I believe in this University and enjoy being part of an athletics department that is positive, ambitious and fully supportive of what we have tried to build here within our women's soccer program," Hind said. "The support this program has received from President Broderick has been not only greatly appreciated but also inspiring to myself, my staff and especially our student-athletes and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him sincerely for his continued support." Hind and the Monarchs are coming off a 9-5-4 season in 2017, the program's best record since 2008. Off the field, Hind's squad excelled academically, leading all ODU squads with a 3.6 team GPA, and had 19 student-athletes on the Dean's List. The Monarchs are 28-38-10 in four seasons under Hind, including three appearances in the Conference USA Tournament, the first three appearances in program history. "I believe you excel when surrounded by great leadership and those that share the same ambition, work ethic, and passion as you do. I therefore want to thank Wood Selig for his leadership, gu
