NORFOLK, Va. - A total of 286 student athletes from all of Old Dominion University's athletic teams, the highest number of any league member, have earned recognition to the Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2017-18 academic year, Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced today. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. This is the fourth year in a row that ODU placed the highest number of total athletes on the honor roll. In all, 2,824 total student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll from the 14 C-USA member institutions.

IRVING, TEXAS Old Dominion University swimming and diving senior Sofie Sjoberg was named ODU's recipient of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, C-USA announced on Tuesday. The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's winter sports: basketball, cross country and swimming and diving. At this year's Conference USA Championships, Sjoberg finished third in the 100 freestyle with an NCAA B-cut time of 49.81. Sjoberg will graduate in May with a degree in finance and management and holds a 3.48 GPA. She is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. A native of Sweden, Sjoberg has been active in the swim teams involvement in the Special Olympics, helping athlete prepare for their state meet.
