A former assistant at Stetson, South Carolina and Daytone State, Brittany Young enters her first season as an assistant coach at Old Dominion in 2017-18.

"Brittany has been coaching for the last five years," said McCray-Penson of Young. "She has a gretpassion for young people and is a tremendous worker. She worked with us at South Carolina and knows what success looks like."

Prior to ODU, Young coached for two seasons at Stetson. In her final season with the Hatters, Young helped guide Stetson to a 26-win season and the program's first-ever Atlantic Sun regular season championship.

"I'm truly blessed to be a part of such a prestigious university," said Young. "I am honored to have the opportunity to work with Coach McCra and I am looking forward to working with Ed and Richard. When I think of ODU, I think of players like Anne Donovan, Ticha Penicheiro and Nancy Lieberman. I look forward to restoring that tradition to the program.

Prior to Stetson, Young spent two seasons as an assistant at Daytona State College, where she served as the program's recruiting coordinator, director of player development, director of operations, academic coordinator and strength and conditioning liaison.

From 2011-13, Young served as a graduate assistant at South Carolina under Dawn Staley. During her two seasons at South Carolina, the Gamecocks were nationally ranked and twice earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament.

In 2011, Young was just one of 26 recipients of the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.

Prior to beginning her coaching career, Young was a CoSIDA Academic All-American and all-conference performer at Francis Marion University. She is a member of the school's all-decade team and remains one of three players in FMU history to surpass 1,000 points and 500 assists in a career.

In addition to her success on the court, Young was President of the Student Athletic Advisory Council. She graduated from Francis Marion in 2008 and then obtained her master's degree in Sport and Entertainment Management from South Carolina in 2013.
