Lamarr Pottinger was named Director of Student-Athlete development in July 2016. At ODU, Pottinger oversees all Student-Athlete development events and programs as well as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He is also the primary academic athletic advisor for Women’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, and Women’s Soccer.
Before coming to ODU, Pottinger worked at Jacksonville University as the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services. While at Jacksonville, he created and implemented the Dolphin Life Development program which served as JU’s Life Skills programming and their Leadership/Career Academy.
Prior to Jacksonville, he attended Western Illinois as a graduate assistant for athletic-academic services from 2013-14. He was responsible for co-advising approximately 200 student-athletes in six sports and served as a community relations coordinator to connect student-athletes with the surrounding community. Additionally, he oversaw committees of SAAC for programs and special events, trained volunteer academic mentors to properly conduct meetings and provided assistance with planning, developing, and implementation of CHAMPS/Life Skills events and programs.
Pottinger was a four-year letter winner on the Eastern Illinois men's track and field team from 2010-13 before attending Western Illinois to receive his Masters in Sport Management and Business.
