12th Monarchs,

Our football team is excited to be back at Foreman Field with Monarch Nation this Saturday at 6:00pm for our game versus Presbyterian. We know that you will be loud and proud Saturday night!

You would have been proud of your team if you had been there Saturday in the Bronx for our game at Fordham. Even though we took a tough loss 34-29, I was more proud of your team for their performance in this game then I have been in any game this year. They simply refused to give in to a much more experienced team.

Playing in a driving rain storm, our team trailed 25-7 in the 3rd quarter. We could have packed our bags, got on the bus, and headed home, but not your Monarchs! Our kids stayed the course, created turnovers on defense and special teams, and battled back.

With four minutes left in the game, we took a 29-28 lead. Fordham, lead by their NFL bound quarterback John Skelton, answered to take a 34-29 lead. Back came your Monarchs, as they had done the entire 2nd half, with a drive. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

We learned many great lessons from this game that we will continue to grow on as we strive to build a championship program at Old Dominion. We all look forward to seeing and hearing you Saturday night!

Aim High,

Coach Wilder
