NORFOLK, Va. -- Virginia transfer Jason Fuller has been added to the Old Dominion football roster, it was announced on Friday by Monarch head coach Bobby Wilder.

"I am excited with the signing of Jason Fuller," said Wilder. "Jason is our first B.C.S. transfer. He has everything we are looking for in a student-athlete at Old Dominion. He has an undergraduate degree from one of the top business schools in the country, he is a great person, and he is passionate about playing football at Old Dominion. When I first asked him why he would consider transferring from UVA to ODU, he simply said I want to be part of something special. That, as much as his football ability, excited me as the head coach."

Fuller, a 6-5, 255 pound defensive end, comes to the first year Old Dominion program after spending the last four seasons, including a redshirt his freshman year, at the University of Virginia. He was received a degree in commerce with a concentration in finance and management along with a minor in government from the prestigious McIntire School of Commerce.

A native of Virginia Beach, Fuller was a first team all-state, all-region, All-Tidewater, and all-district defensive end at Kempsville High School. During his senior campaign, Fuller made 53 tackles, including seven sacks. As a junior, he recorded 66 tackles, 17 for loss, as well as 10 sacks. In addition to his accolades in football at Kempsville, Fuller won the Eastern region championship and was state runner-up as a junior in wrestling and threw the shot put on the track team. He was listed in Who's Who in Sports, won academics awards for football and wrestling, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

The Old Dominion football program will kickoff its first season of NCAA Division I Football Championship play this fall. The Monarchs will play an 11-game schedule, including a seven-game home slate beginning on September 5th when they host Chowan at 6:00 p.m.
