12th Monarchs,

"Living The Dream" is an expression I use often with our football team and I often tell our football players we are part of something special here at Old Dominion. These first two seasons have been a dream come true for our program. We are 17-5 overall since hitting the field two years ago and have won 77% of our games to date. Your Monarchs are the best start-up program in the history of FCS football having followed up a 9-2 season in 2009 with an 8-3 record in 2010.

We are extremely grateful for the tremendous support we have received from our students, the University, our athletic department, our alumni, and the 12th Monarchs everywhere. We are proud to represent Old Dominion University. This is not our team, this is your team!

As we reflect on the many accomplishments of our first two seasons, we look forward to 2011 and joining the CAA. We are well aware of the competition we will face next year as the CAA is the most dominate conference in the FCS. Four of the teams - William and Mary, Delaware, Villanova, & New Hampshire - will compete for a national championship starting this coming weekend, an accomplishment no other FCS conference in the country can boast about. Of those four teams competing for a national championship title, three of them - William and Mary, Delaware, & Villanova - are on our schedule in 2011. Our goal as a football program is to compete for a spot in the tournament in the very near future. This is a lofty goal!

Myself, the coaching staff, and our student-athletes are now shifting the focus to our off-season program.

Our players are focused on having our best semester academically. They have three weeks to go and will finish strong in the classroom just as we did on the football field by winning our last five games. They will work hard in the weight room to become bigger, faster, and stronger for 2011. We will continue to do great things in the community as we have done these past two years.

Our coaching staff will begin recruiting today as the contact period is under way. We will continue to recruit great people, great students, and great football players that believe in our "aim high" philosophy as a football program.

We are proud to represent you all as your Football Monarchs. I am proud to be your head coach. Thank you for all you have done in representing Old Dominion Football. We could not have done it without you!!!

"AIM HIGH" in everything you do,

- Coach Wilder
