Old Dominion’s women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind named Lucas Zicher an assistant coach in February of 2017. Zicher joined ODU soccer from Coastal Carolina University where he served as assistant coach for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Zicher played a key role in the development of the goalkeepers at Coastal as well as being responsible for recruiting both domestically and internationally. He was part of a staff that helped lead the squad to successful back-to-back seasons finishing regular season runners-up in the Big South Conference (2015) and runners-up/conference tournament finalists in 2016.

Originally a native from Arlington Heights, Illinois, Lucas attended and played at DePaul University and finished his degree in sports wellness and management at Trinity International University.

Zicher has played and trained with professional clubs on various levels domestically and internationally through his career. His most recent season (2014), he spent playing professionally in Australia for the Brisbane Wolves. Holding a player trainer role, he started in 14 of 27 matches. In those fixtures the Wolves won their Premiership, made a Grande Final appearance, as-well as competed three rounds deep in the domestic cup play. The squads overall record was 24-3 and helped to set an Australian soccer record of 20 consecutive league wins.

His coaching experience domestically has consisted of coaching at Lake Forest College, with the Chicago Fire Juniors and Academies, Illinois's Olympic Development Program and most recently with the WPSL side Palm City FC.

In regards to his international coaching experience, he served as an academy coach with Werder Bremen (Germany). Zicher also held the position of Director of Goalkeeping at Rotenburger SV (Germany) and with the Brisbane Wolves (Australia).

Lucas holds NSCAA Goalkeeping level 1 and 2 Diplomas as well as his USSF D License.
