The Monarchs defeated Campbell, 22-18, lost to the Hokies, 28-9, and dropped their final match to the Cyclones, 25-12.

“We were fortunate to wrestle the No. 9 team in the country and a Big 12 team in Iowa State," said head coach Steve Martin

In their first match of the day, the Monarchs defeated the Fighting Camels of Campbell, 22-18. Michael McGee, Alex Madrigal, Larry Early, and Antonio Agee all secured bonus points en route to the Monarch victory.

To start off the match, Michael McGee notched a major decision over Korbin Meink.

At 133, Caleb Richardson lost to Nathan Boston by decision.

Picking up bonus points at 141, Alex Madrigal did not let his opponent score one point, winning 16-0.

Wrapping up the dual, Ali Wahab lost to No. 18 Andrew Dunn by decision.

“Bottom line is, they’re just a little bit better than us. I know we left a couple matches out there. But, not too bad against the number nine team in the country,” explained Steve Martin.

The Monarchs final match of the day came against Iowa State. ODU dropped their final match, 25-12. The Monarchs will wrestle Chattanooga on Saturday at 10 a.m. on mat 3.

Luke Drugac dropped his match at 165.
