Three Soccer Monarchs Selected In MLS Supplemental Draft

NORFOLK, VA-- Three Old Dominion University Soccer Monarch Jordan LeBlanc, Alex DeJohn and Yannick Smith were selected in the MLS Supplemental draft today. The threesome combined for a 44-21-9 record at ODU which included three NCAA tournaments appearances.
LeBlanc was the selected in the second round (27th overall pick) by the Montreal Impact, DeJohn was selected in the third round (42nd overall pick) by New England Revolution and Smith was picked in the fourth round (75th overall) by Houston Dynamo.

DeJohn, a defender from Marlboro, NJ., earned second team All-CAA honors. He scored a goal in ODU's Fox Soccer nationally televised win over George Mason.
Jordan LeBlanc, a midfielder from Haverford, PA. earned third team NSCAA All-Region honors and second team All-CAA honors. During the season he was named TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week on Aug. 27th after scoring two goals with one assist against Navy. LeBlanc completed his career with 14 goals, five assists and 33 career points.
Yannick Smith, a forward from Hillsborough, NJ., assisted on five goals this year which ranked him fifth in the CAA and scored three for 11 total points. In the classroom he was selected to CoSIDA's Academic All-District III and was a semifinalist for the Senior Class Award. Smith was also on the MAC Hermann Trophy pre-season watch list. He finished his career with 23 goals, 14 assists and 60 total points. He ranks ninth all-time at ODU in career goals and 11th all-time in career assists and eighth all-time at ODU in career points.
Four former Monarchs played in the MLS this past season. They were Carlos Mendes (ODU '01) of the Columbus Crew, goalkeeper Evan Newton (ODU' 11) of the San Jose Earthquake, midfielder Nane Joseph (ODU'10) of the Colorado Rapids and two-time CAA Defender of the Year David Horst ('07) of the Portland Timbers. All four played under Alan Dawson, the school's winningest men's soccer coach.
