STILLWATER, Okla. -- The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum has selected its 2008 state and regional winners of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. Forty-nine seniors from those states that sponsor high school state wrestling championships have been chosen for the honor. Two of those seniors have committed to wrestle for ODU as Craig Wilson (Farmington, Mo.) and Jared King (Chesapeake, Va.) took home the award for their respective state.

The High School Excellence Award is named in honor of Olympic and World Champion Dave Schultz. Each award recipient is evaluated on excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship, and community service.

Wilson, ranked as high as 2nd in the nation this season, won his third state championship and is considered one of the top prospects to come out of the state of Missouri. He finished his senior year with a 51-1 record giving him a career record of 202 wins coupled with only four losses after winning his third consecutive state title.

King wrestled at Virginia state powerhouse Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and was ranked as high as 10th nationally. He won the Virginia AAA state championship as a senior as a three-time finalist. With his successful senior season, he became a three-time district and three-time regional champion.
