ODU Completes a Successful Fall Season

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University rowing team ended their fall season in Charlottesville, Va. at the Rivanna Romp this weekend.
ODU continued their success in the Novice Eights race as they placed third with a time of 15:13. The Lady Monarchs finished before the University of Virginia’s second and third boats and nearly missed out on silver medals as they finished just eight seconds behind the University of Penn. UVA took first place in the Novice Eights race.
Old Dominion had another top-10 finish in the Varsity Eights race, as their A-boat finished in ninth place with a time of 14:34. ODU’s B-boat finished in 11th with a time of 15:11, while their C-boat finished just six seconds behind in 13th place (15:17).
The Lady Monarchs rounded out the day with yet another top-10 finish in the Fours race, when their A-boat finished with a time of 16:13. Old Dominion also had their B-boat finish just one second behind the A-boat (16:14) in 12th place and a third boat finish in 18th (17:53).
Old Dominion finished their fall season with two victories in the Frosh/Novice Eights race at the Head of the Schuylkill and the Head of the Hooch. The Lady Monarchs won silver medals in the Lightweight 4+ race at the Hooch, while ODU took bronze medals in the Open Fours race at Schuylkill.
The rowing team will return to action in 2013 on March 9-14 for Spring Training in Austin, Texas. On March 15, ODU will have a Spring Training event against the University of Texas.
Old Dominion will open up their spring season with a home regatta against the University of North Carolina on March 23, 2013.
