Men's Baseball: Monarchs Fall to NC State Wolfpack, 11-2

CHARLESTON, SC. -- Mike Sollie tossed seven strong innings and Dan Mooney drove in four runs as North Carolina State defeated the Monarchs, 11-2 in the third round of the Citadel Trademark Classic at Riley Park. ODU is now 1-2, The Wolfpack are also 1-2.

NC State took a 6-0 lead in the third with Mooney's three-run double highlighting the inning. The Monarchs scored in the bottom of the third when Jeff Eure(Pillow,Pa.) singled and came home to score on an rbi groundout by David Vilardi(Fishkill, NY.). The Monarchs second run came in the ninth as Eure hit a sacrifice fly to score Ryan Dunn (Bristol, Va.).

Mike Sollie scatter seven hits and allowed one run for the Wolfpack. Last year, ODU defeated the Wolfpack twice.

The Monarchs return home to host Howard on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the Bud Metheny Complex, then travel to Virginia on Wednesday.
