Lady Monarchs No. 3 Seed In CAA Women's Tennis Championship

Richmond, Va. - The pairings are set for the 2008 CAA Women's Tennis Championship, which will be held April 17-20 at the Huntington Park Tennis Center in Newport News, Va.
First-round action begins on Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. with three first-round matches as #6 UNC Wilmington takes on #11 Drexel, #7 Hofstra faces #10 Towson and #8 James Madison meets #9 George Mason. In Friday's quarterfinals, #3 Old Dominion takes on the UNCW/Drexel winner at 9 a.m., followed by #2 VCU against the Hofstra/Towson winner at 11:30 a.m. At 2 p.m., top-seeded William and Mary meets the James Madison/George Mason winner, followed by #4 Georgia State against #5 Delaware at 3:30 p.m.
The tournament semifinals will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the CAA championship match to take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
William and Mary is the defending tournament champion and has won 19 of the last 22 CAA titles. The Tribe has reached the finals every year. VCU captured the CAA championship in 2003 and 2006 and has reached the finals for the past six years. Old Dominion was the CAA champion in 2001.
The CAA has an outstanding tradition in women's tennis and has had multiple teams compete in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship in six of the past eight years. This season, William and Mary is ranked #22 nationally and VCU is ranked #36.
