NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs open up CAA play this weekend when they host the Tribe of the College of William and Mary. Friday's game at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex begins at 5 p.m. Saturday will be at 2 p.m. and Sunday is at 1. The contest will be video streamed on ODU All-Acces.

Friday's matchup between ODU's Kyle Hald and W&M's Matt Davenport will be a battle between the CAA's best. Both were first team All-CAA last year and are pre-season All-CAA selections.

Hald is currently 2-0 with a 0.41 earned run average. He has 27 strikeouts in just 22 innings of work. Hald was CAA co-Pitcher of the Week last week. Junior righthander Ben Tomchick will throw on Saturday for ODU. Tomchick is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA. Phil McCarthy is 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and two complete games will pitch on Sunday.

Last year, W&M swept the three-game series in Williamsburg. ODU leads the series, 72-47.

Chris Baker is the Monarchs top hitter at .339 with four homers and 17 RBI. Brent Frazier is second at .300. Derrick Osteen leads W&M in hitting at .341, while Ryan Williams is hitting .309 with two homers and 11 RBI for the Tribe.
