NORFOLK, VA. (May 9) - Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.) knocked in three runs, Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) two, and the Monarchs held off a Radford rally to defeat the Highlanders, 11-10 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game. Old Dominion is now 30-18-1, while Radford drops to 25-22.
Eure's sacrifice fly scored Tim Hummel (Montgomery, NY.) in the fifth and his double knocked in Musolf and Hummel in the Monarchs four-run seventh. Jared Musolf singled home Hummel in the first inning and his fifth inning groundout plated Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, Pa.).
Tim Hummel scored three times and walked four times to bring his season total to 50, six shy of the school record set by Ron Walker in 1997. Hummel who leads the CAA in hitting with a .412 average has already set a new school record with 141 career walks.

Fred Wray knocked in two runs with two hits as well for Radford. In the ninth inning, Radford pulled to within a run of the Monarchs after pinch runner Jamie Davis scored on a wild pitch to make the score 11-10. Ryan McFadden who reached on an error moved up to third, but Monarch relief pitcher Daniel McAfee (Crofton, Md.) got Ray Detwiler to fly out to centerfield to end the game.
Old Dominion will play #14 Wake Forest Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the final home game for seniors Brian Ross (Portland, Me.), Jason Greiner (Wexford, Pa.) and Joe Troilo(Avondale, Pa.). Radford hosts Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
