Rowing Closes Out Season at Dad Vail Regatta

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's rowing team wraps up the 2011-12 season this Friday and Saturday at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, held on Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
At last year's Dad Vail, ODU's Varsity Eight and Varsity Four both placed second. The Varsity Eight finals were extremely tight with ODU taking second place, edged out by Purdue by just .33 seconds. The Varsity Four finals, meanwhile saw the Lady Monarchs cross the finish line in second place less than three seconds behind the victors from Villanova and .31 seconds ahead of third place Saint Joseph's.
This weekend's regatta concludes will conclude the season for the Lady Monarchs, which saw the Varsity Four earn third place medals at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, the Varsity and Frosh/Novice Four reach the Grand Finals of the Knecht Cup, and the Varsity and Junior Varsity Eight take second at Occoquan Sprints.
