NORFOLK, VA. - Chris Coughlin, Matt Carter and Blake Cross combined to limit Old Dominion to five hits as the Seahawks of UNCW defeated the Monarchs in the final game of the CAA series, 5-1 at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. The loss holds head coach Tony Guzzo at 699 career wins.

Coughlin pitched seven innings, striking out six and allowing one unearned run in winning his fourth game of the season. He issued only one walk. The Monarchs lone run came the eighth as freshman thirdbaseman Justin Gregula (Washington, PA.) scored on an error with two outs.

UNCW scored in the second as thirdbaseman Brad Denson homered with Russ Simmerman aboard. In the seventh, Matt Sutton doubled home Matt Wright to make it, 3-0. The Seahawks scored two more in the eighth on an RBI single by Chip Grawey and and bases loaded groundout by Jamie Hemingway.

Sophomore James Burok (Archbald, PA.) took the loss, but allowed only the first two runs in six innings of work. He fanned seven, walked three.

Chip Grawey, Jamie Hemingway, and Brad Denson led UNCW's 10-hit attack with two hits each. Jesse Schoendiest (Belcamp, MD.) led ODU with two hits. The Monarchs travel to Virginia on Tuesday night, then return home to host N.C. State Wednesday night.
