Final Stats

Newport News, Va. - The Old Dominion lacrosse team surrendered seven goals in each half and consequently suffered its seventh consecutive loss as the Lady Monarchs fell to visiting Delaware 14-6. With the loss ODU (4-7, 0-5 CAA) was officially eliminated from participation in the upcoming CAA Championship.

A goal by ODU's Kaelyn Schival tied the score at one apiece six minutes into the game, but the Blue Hens (10-4, 4-2 CAA) answered with five consecutive goals over the next 15 minutes to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Katie Muth did much of the damage for Delaware during the run, scoring a goal and assisting on two others, while Debbie Sloan added two goals of her own.

The Lady Monarchs turned up the tempo and closed out the first half with three more goals, two coming off the stick of Kelly Kimener. When ODU's Jessica Noone got one past Delaware goalie Jessica Cerveny, the Lady Monarchs were within three at 7-4 as the first half concluded.

Delaware opened the second half in the same fashion as the first, scoring early and often. The Blue Hens added three goals in the first six minutes of the period to jump ahead 10-4 before Nicole McMahon stopped the run with ODU's fifth goal of the day with 20:50 to play. Schival trimmed the Delaware lead to four with her second goal, but that would be as close as the Lady Monarchs would get.

The Blue Hens closed things out with four more goals in the final six minutes to provide the 14-6 final margin.

ODU will play its final game at Foreman Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. against CAA foe Towson, before closing out the season on April 24 at William & Mary.
