NORFOLK, VA.--The sixth ranked ODU soccer Monarchs (6-0) got second half goals from Brian Cvilikas (Highland Ranch, CO.) and Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) to defeat fifth ranked Wake Forest, 2-0 Sunday afternoon at the ODU soccer stadium.

The Monarchs have still not allowed a goal and this is the team's third win over a top 20 opponent this year. The 6-0 start is ODU's best since 1991.

After a scorelss first half, Cvilikas, a sophomore got the ball on the right side of the net and hit it pass Wake Forest's goalkeeper William Hesmer. With less than three minutes remaining in the match Attila Vendegh got a break-a-way to put ODU up for good at 2-0.

"Wake Forest is a very good team, and we had two great matches with them last year," said ODU head coach Alan Dawson. "Today, we showed a lot of resilience. We were able to control things a little bit. We've played solid soccer all year, and our depth has been very important to us." Last year, WFU defeated ODU, 2-1 in Norfolk, and 1-0 in the NCAA second round in Winston-Salem.

The Monarchs outshot Wake Forest, 13-11 and goalkeeper Samuel Cameron (Rockville, MD.) posted his sixth shutout. He came up with seven saves on the day.

Earlier this year, ODU defeated #5 Stanford and #19 California. The Monarchs host the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (ranked fourth in the region) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
