The Old Dominion women's soccer team travels to New Jersey this weekend to participate in the annual Rutgers Tournament. The tournament is played over two days and features some on the nation's best teams.

The Lady Monarchs will see action Friday night against St. Johns and on Sunday when they take on the host, Rutgers. This will be ODU's first ever meeting with St. Johns and third matchup with the Scarlet Knights. The Red Storm and 2-0-2 on the young season and will look to remain undefeated through the tournament. The Lady Monarchs and Rutgers have split their two previous meetings, with each team winning on their home field, Rutgers 2-1 in 1999 and ODU 5-3 in 2000. The Knights are currently 2-1-1 and ranked 10th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week. Boston University rounds out the lineup and will also play St. Johns and Rutgers.

ODU enters this weekend with 1-2-0 record after falling to Campbell 3-2 earlier this week. The Lady Monarchs will play the opener without offensive leader Diane Baucom (Va. Beach, VA) who was ejected from the Campbell game. Three freshman have already posted goals for ODU, with Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA), Danielle Heusser (Hummelstown, PA), and Heather Vaughan (Va. Beach) each tallying a goal apiece.

Old Dominion will return home next Friday to welcome non-conference opponent Arkansas to Norfolk. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
