Spring Game Set For Saturday

NORFOLK, Va. -- Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium will be festive on Saturday, April 24 for the spring football game.

The activities begin with gates opening at 11:30 a.m., and a Fun Zone for children including inflatables, face painting, tattoos, and photos opportunities for fans of all ages with Big Blue, the ODU mascot. The first 500 fans into the stadium will receive a 2010 football schedule water bottle. A field goal contest for male and female fans and punting contest for children, and men and women will offer great prizes and special kicking tips from members of the Monarchs special teams.

Kickoff for the annual spring game is set for 1 p.m., followed by an autograph session with all the team members and coaches on the field. Additionally, fans will be entertained throughout the game by the ODU Marching Monarchs and cheer and dance squads.

For the adult Monarch fan, a hospitality area will be open outside of the stadium behind the Ainslie Football Complex from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m,, with food and adult beverages available for purchase. Hospitality will also be offered inside the stadium in the Charles Barker Field Pass Terrace and concessions will be available on the East side of the stadium.

Tailgating will not be permitted for the spring game.

All spring football events are free and open to the public.

Scrimmage Format:

Segment #1 - 1 offense vs 1 defense - 32 yard line (8-12 plays)
Segment #2 - Players to the sideline = Adjustment Period (3 minutes)
Segment #3 - 2 offense vs 2 defense + 45 yard line (8-12 plays)
Segment #4 - Players to the sideline = adjustment period (3 minutes)
Segment #5 - 1 offense vs 1 defense = + 25 yard line (8-12 plays)
Segment #6 - Players to the sideline = Adjustment period (3 minutes)
Segment #7 - 2 Offense vs 2 Defense = - 32 yard line (8-12 plays)
Segment #8 - Players to the sideline = Adjustment Period (3 minutes)
Segment #9 - 1 offense vs 1 defense = -32 yard line (2 minute drill) (1 T.O. For OFF and DEF)
Segment #10 - players to the sideline = Adjustment Period (3 minutes)
Segment #11 - 2 offense vs 2 defense = - 45 yard line (8-12 plays)
Segment #12 - Players to the sideline = Adjustment Period (3 minutes)
Segment #13 - 1 offense vs 1 defense = + 10 yard line (maximum 4 plays)
Last segment of the scrimmage. Offense must score a touchdown, defense must keep the offense out of the end zone.
