NORFOLK, VA -- ODU redshirt freshman Kaylen Baxter (Fairbanks, Alaska) was named Co-Rookie of the Week for wrestling this week after upsetting the 10th ranked grappler in the nation last week. Also in the CAA Weekly Report, Old Dominion bumped up a spot and is now tied for second in the conference rankings. The Monarchs are preparing for the CAA Tournament taking place in Fairfax, VA from March 2-3.

Baxter, wrestling at 149-lbs., defeated Josh Wagner from Missouri last week to improve to 27-19. It was the fourth time this season Baxter had toppled a nationally ranked opponent and the third wrestler ranked in the top ten. This is the second time this season the Fairbanks, Alaska native was named Rookie of the Week. This week, Baxter shares the award with Hofstra's Lou Ruggirello.

This marks the first week that ODU is the only school in the 12-team conference with all ten starters ranked within the conference. With a 12-7 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark, ODU will be looking for big things at the conference tournament next weekend. The tournament, being held at George Mason University, begins Friday March 2.
