RICHMOND, VA-- Third seeded Old Dominion exploded for three second-half goals by Kyle Hartley, Kevin McMenamin, and Edson Elcock to defeat #2 James Madison, 3-1 in the semifinals of the CAA Men's Soccer Championship on a rainy Friday night at VCU's Sports Backers Stadium.

The victory moved the Monarchs (13-4-2) into the CAA Championship game for the first time since 1993. ODU will face #5 Hofstra, which upset #1 Virginia Commonwealth 1-0 in the first semi-final game, at 2 p.m. Sunday. JMU dropped to 15-3-1, with two of its three losses coming to ODU.

The Dukes jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:31 into the contest. Sophomore Kurt Morsink fed a pass to Mark Totten, who drove in the right side of the box and fired a hard 10-yard shot into the lower right corner of the net.

Momentum changed in the second half as ODU scored the equalizer just 14 seconds into the period. Senior Kevon Harris (Kingston, Jamaica) found Kyle Hartley (Va.Beach, VA.) alone at the top of the six-yard box, where he put a quick move on JMU goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and fired into the open net.

ODU kept the pressure on and grabbed the lead six minutes later. Kyle Harley sent a pass along the left side to Senior Kevin McMenamin (West Springfield, MA.), who streaked into the box and send a 12-yard shot into the lower right corner to put ODU up, 2-1.

The Monarchs tacked on an insurance goal in the 77th minute. Sophomore Edson Elcock (Brooklyn, NY.) took a pass from junior Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, Co.) in the middle of the box, turned and launched a tough left-footed shot inside the left post.

ODU outshot JMU, 13-8, including 10-3 in the second half. The three goals were the most allowed by JMU, which limited 17 of its 19 foes to one goal or less.
