RICHMOND, Va. (May 3, 2010) - Old Dominion University freshman Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) has been named CAA Rookie of the Year in a vote of the league's head coaches. Georgia State sophomore Charlotte Lorentzen was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Year.

Also earning top honors from the conference was Georgia State's Cathy Mant as CAA Coach of the Year.

The rookie posted top-20 finishes in six of her nine tournaments, including three top-3 finishes in her first year as a Lady Monarch. Morrell captured a pair of second place finishes at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate and the C&F Bank Intercollegiate. The freshman finished her rookie campaign with a 76.14 scoring average.

Lorentzen earned medalist honors at the CAA Championship with rounds of 75-73-69 - 217 and helped the Panthers earn their third CAA Championship. The sophomore was chosen as the conference's top player a year after earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors. Lorentzen recorded a 75.10 scoring average over 11 tournaments. She posted six top-20 finishes in 2009-10 thus far, including three in the top-10. Lorentzen will next look to advance out of NCAA Regionals as the Panthers received an automatic bid.

Mant received CAA Women's Coach of the Year honors for the third time in her tenure and second consecutive season. She led Georgia State to its third CAA title. Mant guided the Panthers to a 13th place or better finish in all 12 tournaments during the 2009-10 campaign, including three first place finishes and a pair of second place finishes. She will guide the Panthers during their sixth appearance at the NCAA Regionals.
