Palmore- CAA All-Rookie Hill and Larsen All-Academic

RICHMOND, Va. (March 8, 2013) - ODU freshman guard Kennan Palmore (Stone Mountain, GA.) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association's All-freshman squad while juniors Donte Hill (Virginia Beach, VA.) and Anton Larsen (Copenhagen, Denmark )were selected to the All-Academic squad.
Towson junior forward Jerrelle Benimon was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball Player of the Year in voting by the league's head coaches, media relations directors and members of the media. The announcement was made Friday night at the league's pre-tournament awards banquet in Richmond, Va.
Also receiving top honors were Towson's Pat Skerry as the CAA Coach of the Year, Georgia State freshman guard R.J. Hunter as the CAA Rookie of the Year and Delaware senior forward Jamelle Hagins as the CAA Defensive Player of the Year. Northeastern senior guard Jonathan Lee was the recipient of the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.
The 6-1 Palmore was third on the team in both scoring at 8.2, and rebounding at 4.3. In 18 CAA games, Palmore averaged 9.0 points per contest. He scored a career high 17 points against William & Mary along with 14 against Delaware (9 games in double figures). Palmore hauled down nine rebounds against Holy Cross and Towson s well as eight against VCU. He also had career highs of eight assists against Towson and five against Drexel. He ranked second in the CAA in steals at 1.9 per game, fourth in the CAA in assist/turnovers ratio at 1.7, and ninth in assists at 3.0.
Hill started 28 games this year, the most on the team as the co-captain averaged 8.2 points and 2.9 assists per game. Hill is majoring in sociology. He ranked 10th in the CAA in both assists at 2.9, and steals at 1.3 per game. Larsen repeats for the second straight year on the All-Academic squad. The international business major played in 23 games with three starts this season. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
