NORFOLK, VA (Sept. 3, 2003) - The Old Dominion Men's Soccer team (1-0-0) is set to play two ranked opponents this weekend in the seventh annual Adidas Cal Legacy Classic Tournament in Berkeley, California. The Monarchs last played Friday, August 29 at home, defeating St. Francis (PA) 4-0. They come into the tournament with two votes in the College Coaches Poll.

The Monarchs square off against the 19th-ranked hosts California-Berkeley (0-2-0) Friday, Sept. 5, at 2:00 PM (PST) and plays fifth-ranked Stanford (0-0-0) Sunday, Sept. 7, at 11:30 AM (PST). The Monarchs last played Cal-Berkeley in 1999, losing 2-1 in overtime, and last played Stanford in 1995, winning 2-1. Cal-Berkeley holds a 1-0 edge all-time against ODU, while the Monarchs hold a 2-1 series lead over Stanford.

The Monarchs are off to a solid start this season, with ties over nationally-ranked Virginia (#25) and North Carolina (#8) in exhibition matches and a dominating performance against St. Francis (PA).

Brian Cvlikas (Highlands Ranch, CO), Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA), Ross Mackenzie (Richmond, VA) and two-time CAA Player of the Year Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) each scored a goal in the Monarch's previous game against St. Francis (PA). Senior goalkeeper Samuel Cameron (Raleigh, NC) recorded the shutout.

Cal State-Fullerton (2-0-0), ranked 19th nationally, is also playing in the tournament. CS-Fullerton plays against Stanford Friday and against Cal-Berkeley Sunday.
