No. 23 ODU Hits the Road for Matches Against No. 7 Missouri and Purdue

NORFOLK, Va - The No. 23 ranked Monarchs of Old Dominion will take on the Tigers from the University of Missouri and the Boilermakers from Purdue University on Nov.10 in West Lafayette, Ind.

ODU will be led by their four nationally ranked wrestlers and returning NCAA qualifiers from a season ago. 141 pound redshirt junior, Justin LaValle was dominant at the Knight Point Open last weekend, as he went 3-0 with one pin before withdrawing from the tournament.

John Nicholson also won his first three matches before he too withdrew from the 157 pound tournament in Clarion, Pa.

Jerome Robinson withdrew from the 125 pound tournament after going 2-0, while Scott Festejo ended up placing fourth after going 4-2 in the 133 pound tournament.

Old Dominion is scheduled to wrestle Missouri at 11 a.m. in the Holloway Gymnasium. The Tigers come into the weekend ranked No. 7 in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll.

The `Open Mat' will be on hand for the Old Dominion/Missouri match with a live blog and audio broadcast. Also, live stats will be available at

Missouri currently has six wrestlers ranked nationally. The Tigers are led by Senior Dom Bradley who is ranked No. 2 among all heavyweights. Junior Alan Waters opens up this season ranked No. 5 at 125 pounds.

Nathan McCormick is currently ranked No. 9 at 133-pounds. Senior Brent Haynes is ranked No. 6 at 197. Sophomore Drake Houdashelt will face the Monarchs as the No. 13 wrestler at 149 pounds. While Kyle Bradley opens the year ranked No. 20 at 157-pounds.

The Monarchs are scheduled to take on the Boilermakers at 1 p.m. Purdue received 85 votes in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll.

The Old Dominion/Purdue match will be available via live web stream on `Boilermaker All-Access' and the `Big Ten Digital Network'. In addition, The `Open Mat' will be on hand with a live blog and audio broadcast and live stats will be available at

The Boilermakers currently have four wrestlers ranked nationally. Purdue is led by No. 8 Cashe Quiroga at 133 pounds. Senior Ivan Lopouchanski is ranked No. 15 at 149 pounds, while Braden Atwood comes into the weekend ranked No. 16. 125 pound junior, Campert Eppert is ranked No. 19.
