Busy Weekend Ahead for ODU Sailing

NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 12 Old Dominion University coed sailing team will take part in the prestigous Truxtun Umsted Team Race in Annapolis this weekend while the No. 15 Lady Monarchs take part in the St. Mary's Women's Regatta. Closer to home, ODU will also compete in the CNU Women’s Race and Pirate Team Race in Hampton.

Last weekend, the Monarchs were again competing in a loaded field with just 10 teams, all of which were ranked nationally, at the St. Mary’s Team Race. ODU went just 2-7 and finished in ninth place at the St. Mary's Team Race behind senior skippers Dillon PaivaZachary Runciand freshman skipper Esteban Forrer. Crew members included juniors Chloe ConstantsJill Fattibene and Julia Wiesner along with freshmen Joseph David and Cooper Paiva.

The Lady Monarchs took 14th out of 20 teams at the Navy Spring Women’s Regatta with 271 points. Junior skipper Corina Radtke and senior crew Shannon Wilkins took 14th in the A-Division race with 136 points while sophomore skipper Andrea Luna and junior crew Alexa Cavalieri took 13th in the B-Division race with 135 points. No. 6 Stanford won the event, going 12-2.
