NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 20 Old Dominion field hockey team will continue its five-game homestand with matchups against VCU and James Madison this weekend. The Lady Monarchs will battle the Rams on Friday at 5 p.m. and then take on the Dukes on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Old Dominion (7-9, 4-1 CAA) is currently tied with Friday's opponent VCU for second in the Colonial Athletic Association standings. Both squads trail No. 16 Drexel, which is 5-0 in league play.

The Lady Monarchs are coming off a pair of losses against Top-20 squads in non-conference games last week. Sophomore Maartje van Rijswijk posted her first career hat trick in ODU's matchup against No. 2 Maryland and then added a goal and an assist against No. 16 Duke.

VCU is now 12-4 on the season after picking up a trio of victories last week. Sophomore forward Kelsey Scherrer continued her strong 2010 campaign with a score in the Rams' 4-0 rout of nearby Longwood on Wednesday and followed suit in her squad's 3-2 and 3-0 wins over Davidson and Appalachian State, respectively, last weekend. VCU's 12 triumphs this season is the program's most since it finished 16-6 in 1992.

James Madison (8-8 overall, 3-2 in CAA) fell to top-ranked North Carolina by a score of 4-0 on Sunday. The Dukes will travel to William & Mary before making the trip to Norfolk.
