NORFOLK, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced Tuesday that sophomore Tristan Warner was named Wrestler of the Week for the second time in the last four weeks. An Old Dominion University wrestler has now been tabbed as Wrestler of the Week for four consecutive weeks.

Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) upset the 24th ranked wrestler in the nation from Central Michigan in Mike Ottinger, leading ODU to an upset win over the 22nd ranked Chippewas.  The sophomore, ranked 24th this week by WrestlingReport.com, trailed 1-0 in the third period on Sunday before reversing on Ottinger and then racking up a three-point nearfall to capture his team-leading 24th win of the season.

Overall, Warner improved to 24-11 on the season and 14-6 in dual action. The 165-pounder is 10-2 in his last 12 matches with four of his last six matches coming against opponents currently ranked in the top-25.

Redshirt sophomore John Nicholson earned the award in back-to-back weeks previously while Warner took the award and redshirt freshman Jerome Robinson (125) captured CAA Rookie of the Week honors on Jan. 17. Back in November, senior Te Edwards (174) was named the CAA Wrestler of the Month while freshman Pete Baldwin (149) was tabbed as the CAA Rookie of the Month.

The Monarchs will honor seniors Joe Budi and Te Edwards in their final home dual of the season on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. when they host North Carolina State at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The ODU All-Decade Team will be honored at intermission as well.

Head Coach Steve Martin invites all fans, friends, faculty/staff and students to come out and support the team. A pre-match social will begin at 6 p.m. in the Big Blue Room with complimentary beverages and a highlight video of the season. RSVP by Feb. 8 at ODUSports.com/events and enter code: WR0209 or call 757.683.3359. If you can't make the pre-match social, bring a canned food item or a coat and get in to the match for $1. All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for youth and all ODU students get in for free.
