WILMINGTON, N.C. - For the third time this season, Old Dominion University sophomore Carlos Lopez Villa knocked off a ranked opponent, but it wasn't enough as the Monarchs fell at UNCW Thursday evening, 6-1.

The loss drops ODU to 13-6 on the year while UNCW improves to 15-4.

Lopez Villa pulled off his third win over a ranked foe with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 victory over No. 54 Rafael Aita. The sophomore improves his record to 17-1 on the year.

The Seahawks earned the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. No. 20 Chris Cooprider and Kosta Blank were 8-4 winners over No. 88 Lopez Villa and Cetinel while Santtu Leskinen and Kaue Pereira defeated Wesley Barrett and Tim Schweig, 8-0.

In singles, Lopez Villa's victory was the lone one for ODU as Chris Cooprider, Sam Williams, Kosta Blank, Kaue Pereira and Zach Hublitz were all winners. Hublitz staved off Barrett in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 for the tough three-set win.
