Swimming and Diving Set to Compete in Nike Cup

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be competing in the Nike Cup over a three day period in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Nike Cup will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. each morning while finals will begin each night at 6 p.m. The meet will follow the NCAA standard list of events on each of the three days.
Participating teams include host No. 15 North Carolina along with Navy, North Carolina State, and East Carolina. The women's team from Northeastern will also compete along with divers from Drexel and James Madison University.
The original Nike Cup Championship event originated in 1986 in the Maurice J. Koury Natatorium. The meet has been called several names including the Speedo Cup, Carolina Invitational, Nike Cup and now Janis Hape Dowd Nike Cup.
Their last time out, the Old Dominion men's swimming and diving team swept George Mason and Towson to move to a 2-1 record on the season.
The Lady Monarchs are coming off a 2-1 weekend after defeating George Mason and Northeastern but losing to Towson two weekends ago. The women are now 4-1 on the season.
