Samantha Morrell Named Tom Scott Award Winner

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University senior women's golfer Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) has been named recipient of the Tom Scott award by the Norfolk Sports Club., as ODU's top senior athlete.

The award is given in honor of Tom Scott, who coached four sports and served as athletic director during the first 11 years after ODU was founded as the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary.

Morrell has already been named Conference USA's Female Golfer of the Week twice this spring. Morrell won the Bison Invitation as the Lady Monarchs finished second as a team, she then took third at Pinehurst in leading ODU to finished sixth.

In the fall season, Morrell finished second at the Xavier Invitational as ODU won that event and tied for fifth at the Camel Fall Classic as ODU finished second.

Morrell compiled a 76.2 stroke average in the fall and currently has a 75.5 stroke average this spring.

The Lady Monarchs will compete in its first ever Conference USA Championships April 22-24 at the Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, AL.
