Balint and Scully Garner CAA Swimmer and Diver of the Week Honors
Nov. 9, 2005
NORFOLK, VA--Sophomore Patrik Balint (Budapest, Hungary) took home CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week honors, and junior Noah Scully (Virginia Beach, VA) earned CAA Men's Diver of the Week honors for their performance last weekend in Old Dominion's victories over Delaware and William & Mary. This is Balint's second time being honored as such in his Monarch career. ODU men's swimming is off to a perfect 5-0 run in 2005.
Balint won three individual events in the CAA pod meet last weekend-200 backstroke (1:53.88), 500 freestyle (4:47.62), and 200 freestyle (1:44.18). He also swam on two winning relay teams, with the events being the 400 medley relay and 200 medley relay. Balint, last season's CAA Rookie of the Year, is a huge reason why ODU is off to a 5-0 start this season.
Scully tallied wins in both 1-mtr and 3-mtr diving last weekend against Delaware and William& Mary. He scored 278.35 in 1-mtr diving, and 289.90 in 3-mtr diving. In addition, Scully broke the school record in the 1 mtr (266.25) and 3 mtr (338.77) diving events against VMI and Radford and has qualified for zones. Scully also earned CAA Co-Performer of the Week in 2003.
The Monarchs are back in action November 19th as they travel to Lewisburg, PA to participate in the Bucknell Invite.
