#13 Wake Forest Defeats #66 Monarch Men's Tennis, 6-1

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The #66 Old Dominion men's tennis fell to #13 Wake Forest on Sunday, 6-1, at the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach.

The loss drops the Monarchs to 6-3 overall on the season, while the Demon Deacons remain undefeated at 5-0.

The Monarchs' lone point of the afternoon came from Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) at No. 3 singles. Cancado upset #77 Brett Ross in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Although the Demon Deacons captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the Monarch duo of #33 Cancado and sophomore Eidy Igarashi (São José do Rio Preto, Brazil) did take home a victory at No. 2 doubles. The Old Dominion doubles team edged out Ross and partner Marius Adanski, 8-7 (6).

The Old Dominion men's tennis team will return to action on Saturday, February 11th against #49 North Carolina State. The match will take place at Center Court Racket Club in Newport News.
