The Old Dominion women's rowing team is coming into the spring rowing season with a challenging schedule ahead where they will be looking to build off their impressive effort during the fall that saw the varsity four capture first place in the Lightweight 4+ division and take second in the Women's Open 8+ at the Head of the Hooch Regatta.

The schedule kicks off with ODU traveling down to Austin, Texas to face the Texas Longhorns on March 9th during ODU's spring break. In the fall the Lady Monarch's faced Texas at the Head of the Hooch Regatta. The Longhorns were the only school to beat Old Dominion's time in the Women's Open 8+, taking first place with a ten second lead. The Lady Monarchs also took a trip to Texas last spring for a friendly scrimmage race. ODU's Varsity 8's competed against the experienced Longhorns in a pair of four-minute races and a pair of three minute races to gauge their speed.

The UNC Tar Heels and Delaware Blue Hens travel up to Norfolk on March 17th. The last time the Lady Monarchs faced Delaware was last spring in the CAA Championships where they finished in third place and 11 points ahead of fifth place Delaware in the final team results.

The University of Virginia hosts ODU on March 24th. Virginia is a team who competed in the NCAA Championships just last season and is considered a very competitive rowing program. They last faced Old Dominion at the Rivanna Romp last fall, where UVA's A team placed first in the Varsity 8.

On April first the Lady Monarchs will participate in the Occoquan Sprints and the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill New Jersey on April 14th and 15th. At last years Knecht Cup ODU's Varsity 8 placed third and the Varsity 4 took fifth in the grand finals.

The spring season will conclude with a trip to the CAA Championships on April 29th and an appearance in the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest regular intercollegiate rowing event in the United States, on the 11th and 12th of May

Last years CAA Championship gave the Lady Monarchs a chance to showcase their rising program with a third place finish in just their third season. ODU's Varsity 8 squad put on an impressive performance placing second, just two seconds behind first place Northeastern.

Old Dominion closed out last year's spring season with a great showing at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta with the Varsity 8 and the Varsity 4 each placing second. In the semifinals both squads were able to finish in first.
