Old Dominion to Take Part in T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships

PIKESVILLE, Md. (September 15, 2000) -- The opening leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Grand Slam, the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships, takes place Sept. 21-24 at The Suburban Club of Baltimore County. This is the sixth straight year that The Suburban Club of Baltimore County is serving as host.

Representing Old Dominion in the prequalifying draw on Sept. 16-17 will be Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania), Nichlas Hallberg (Alvsjo, Sweden), Rodrigo Laender (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania), Salman Mohammad (Calcutta, India), Patricia Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bailik, Israel), and Julia Sotiriu (Nuremburg, Germany).

The qualifying draw will be held Sept. 19-20 and will include Lady Monarchs Mily Kannarkat (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) as well as any players who advance through the prequalifying tournament. The main draw will be held Sept. 21-24.

This year's T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships will consist of a 64?player singles and a 32 team doubles main draw for the men and a 32 player singles and 16?team doubles main draw for the women. The men's singles.

draw features 48 players who have gained automatic berths into the main draw and 16 players from the Sept. 19?20 qualifying tournament. The women's singles main draw features 24 players who have gained automatic berths and eight qualifiers.
