McAloose and Harris Earn CAA Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, VA--The Colonial Athletic Association announced today that junior third baseman Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named CAA Co-Player of the Week, while freshman righthand pitcher/DH Brett Harris (Chesapeake, VA.) was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
McAloose hit .778 for the week with two doubles, seven RBI and a 1.222 slugging percentage with no strikeouts. He was two-for-three with an RBI on Saturday against VCU, then went five-for-six with six RBI on Sunday in the Monarchs win over the Rams. McAloose leads ODU in hitting with a .388 batting average. He also has four homers and 35 RBI. He shares that honor with Rob Nickle of William and Mary.
Brett Harris tossed his CAA leading fifth complete game in a 2-1 win on Friday at VCU. In that contest, He scattered seven hits, walked three and fanned five. Harris also contributed with the bat as he hit .429 with five RBI during the three-game VCU series. Harris is now 6-3 overall with a 4.07 ERA. Overall, he is hitting .318 with 26 RBI this season.
The Monarchs host Richmond Tuesday night at 7 p.m., then host UNC Wilmington in the final three-game regular season series beginning Thursday at 7 p.m.
