Women's Soccer Travels To JMU And VCU This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion Lady Monarchs look to return to their winning ways this weekend after losing three of the last four close matches. Old Dominion enters competition this weekend carrying a 10-4-0 record, 4-3-0 in the CAA.
Friday the Lady Monarchs travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia to take on James Madison (9-6-0 overall, 4-3-0 in the CAA). ODU is 3-8-1 all-time against the Dukes, last beating them in 1997 2-1 in overtime. JMU's senior forward Kim Argy leads their offensive front, leading the team in goals with six. Duke's goalkeeper Jessica Hussey has logged all but 47 minutes this season, has 50 saves, and has only allowed 14 goals this year.
Old Dominion travels back down interstate 64 Sunday as they visit Richmond, Virginia to compete against Virginia Commonwealth. ODU is 5-3-3 all-time against the Rams, last beating them in 2003, in a 1-0 shutout. The Rams are 9-3-3 overall and 7-0-0 in the CAA and are tied with Hofstra for first place in the conference.
ODU has been unable to find the net for the last two games, recording 14 shots on goals where none of them resulted in a score. Freshman goalkeeper Colby Owen (Virginia Beach, VA) has made 36 saves this season with a 1.11 goals against average. Senior forward Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA), despite not having netted any of the five shots on goal in the last two games, still holds the number 20 spot in the NCAA Women's Soccer National Ranking for goals per game with 0.86.
The Lady Monarchs return home the following weekend for their final two home games of the season against George Mason and Towson.
