Monarchs Host Navy In Three Game Series

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs (5-0) return home to host the U.S. Naval Academy (4-0-1) in a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. in the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. The Monarchs knocked off Virginia, 5-1 Wednesday afternoon.

ODU is scheduled to throw Bryan Hansen (1-0/1.29)on Friday and Jason Godin ( 1-0/ 3.18) on Saturday. Navy is scheduled to throw Mark McCoy (1-0/3.38) on Friday and Mitch Harris (2-0/ 1.86) on Saturday.

Through five games Justin Gregula leads the Monarchs with a .462 batting average, while Jimmy Miles is second at .458 and Dana Arrowood is at .444.

Mike Zahm leds the team with eight runs batted in. As a team, ODU is hitting .366.

Navy is led Renaldo Hollins with a .421 atting average. He also has seven stolen bases. Jonathan Johnson is at .400 with six steals and is tied with Jared Munde with six runs batted in.

ODU pitching has a 1.67 earned run average through the first five games with Hansen leading the starters at 1.29 and Gunter second at 1.80.

ODU and Navy have met six times, the last time was in 2004. The Monarchs lead the series, 5 games-to-one.
