No. 25 ODU Heads To Fairfax for Saturday's CAA Duals

FAIRFAX, Va.- The Old Dominion University wrestling team is set to face four conference opponents in the 10th annual CAA Duals at the GMU Field House.

No. 25 ODU (7-6, 0-1) will face Boston University (8-1, 0-0) at 10 a.m., followed by No. 25 Hofstra (4-0, 1-0) at noon, Drexel (4-5, 0-1) at 2 p.m. and host George Mason (5-8, 0-1) at 4 p.m.

The Monarchs are ranked this week for the first time in nearly two years by NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll as the came in tied at No. 25 with Hofstra. ODU went 3-2 and last week and took fourth place at the 32nd annaul Virginia Duals after defeating Arizona State (20-19) and thrashing No. 18 Rutgers (29-9) on the opening day and falling to No. 22 Kent State (21-16) and No. 23 Edinboro (23-16) on day two.

The middle weight class tandem of No. 28 John Nicholson (157), No. 31 Tristan Warner (165) and No. 13 Te Edwards (174) combined to go 15-0 last week with four falls and six major decisions. No. 30 Jerome Robinson (125) enters the national rankings this week after going an impressive 4-1 last week in his first week of collegiate dual wrestling while No. 25 Justin LaValle (141) continues to lead the team in victories with 21.

On Tuedsay, the CAA named Warner the Wrestler of the Week while Robinson earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Warner went 4-0 in the 32nd annual Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum over the weekend with three falls and a major decision. With his win against Bucknell on Wednesday evening at the Constant Center, the 165-pounder was a perfect 5-0 for the week. In the Virginia Duals, his pin of Hans Rasmusson led the Monarchs to a 20-19 victory over Arizona State.

Robinson went 4-1 last week, losing only to the fourth ranked wrestler in the nation from Kent State, 4-0. In his first week of collegiate dual competition, the 125-pound rookie won a major decision against Arizona State and had a dramatic flair with three of his four wins coming by just a single point or in overtime.
