Old Dominion head women's lacrosse coach Sue Stahl is being inducted into both the Virginia Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, as announced by the Charlottesville Lacrosse Foundation and US Lacrosse respectively.

Stahl, now in her tenth season at Old Dominion, will be inducted into the Virginia Lacrosse Hall of Fame on October 23, 1999 in Charlottesville and then will be inducted into the US Lacrosse National Hall of Fame on October 29, 1999 in Baltimore, Md.

Stahl graduated from Ursinus College in 1966 after a successful high school playing career at Upper Darby in Pennsylvania. She earned Female Athlete of the Year honors in 1962 and then continued her playing career at Ursinus where, in 1966, she was again named Athlete of the Year. She also played club lacrosse in Philadelphia from 1962-1967 and was selected to the US team in 1965, 1966, and 1967. Concurrently, she was on the US field hockey team from 1964-67.

After her playing career, Stahl embarked on a coaching career, with her first job as an assistant at her alma mater from 1971-1981. She then served a seven-year stint as an assistant at Temple University where her Owls were two-time NCAA champions (1984, 1988). She accepted her current post at Old Dominion in 1990, and in 1995 led her Lady Monarch team to a Colonial Athletic Association championship. For her efforts, she was named CAA Coach of the Year.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Stahl has been the US coach since 1988 and has won three consecutive World Cup championships (1989, 1993, 1997). She also coached two US World Cup teams to perfect records. In 1997, she was named the Outstanding World Cup Coach by the IFWLA. She has given her services to several lacrosse associations, including USWLA clinician, USWLA Executive Board, and USWLA rules committee.

Stahl, who will be the World Cup coach in the 2001 tournament, was named to the Ursinus Hall of Fame in 1998.
