ODU Set To Open Against Arizona State in Virginia Duals on Friday

HAMPTON, Va. - The brackets for the 32nd annual Virginia Duals was released on Tuesday afternoon and the Old Dominion University Monarchs will face the Arizona State Sun Devils on Friday at 11 a.m. to begin the 2012 competition. 

The winner of the dual between the Monarchs and the Sun Devils advances to the quarterfinals to face No. 26 Rutgers at 3 p.m., who received a first round bye. The loser receives a bye and will face off in an elimination dual on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. 

Kent State, The Citadel, Buffalo and Bucknell round out the rest of the lower half of this year's bracket while No. 14 Missouri received the bye in the top half of the bracket while Campbell, North Dakota State, Rider, North Carolina, Drexel and No. 13 Edinboro finish the top portion of the bracket.

On Wednesday, the Monarchs (5-4) blasted Bucknell (2-7) at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, 33-3 to snap a three-match losing skid. Nine ODU grapplers recorded victories.

The Sun Devils (5-5) are coming off a 32-18 loss at home to Oregon State on Sunday. ASU finished sixth in the NCAA Championships last season and won a national championship in 1988.
