Monarchs Slip to Ninth Heading to Final Day of Gill/Dinghy National Championships

– The fifth-ranked Old Dominion University fell seven spots to ninth in the second day of the 2013 Gill/Dinghy National Championships on Wednesday.

The Monarchs started the day out with a pair of solid races to hold their position in second but both squads would struggle to gain consistency for the rest of day two as nine total races were completed on Wednesday for a total of 14 in the event.

No. 10 College of Charleston remains in the lead with 169 points and is now followed by No. 3 Georgetown (185), No. 6 Brown (201), No. 9 Dartmouth (210) and No. 8 Boston College (214) rounding out the top five in the 18-team field. 

Brown made the biggest move of the day, shooting up six spots while top-ranked Stanford move ahead five spots but still sits in 10th place, one spot behind Old Dominion.

ODU’s A-Division tandem of senior skipper and team captain Dillon Paiva and the crew combination of freshman Cooper Paiva, junior Chloe Constants and freshman Joe David are in ninth place with 127 points freshman skipper Esteban Forrer and junior crew Julia Wiesner sit in seventh place in the B-Division race with 121 points.
