Haycock and Morrell Named Second Team All-State

Haycock was a 2013 Conference USA third team All-League squad.In the Fall season, Haycock won the Towson Invitational, tied for fourth at Penn State and East Carolina's tournaments and took fifth at Xavier. She also finished second at UNCW and seventh at Bucknell's tournaments in the Spring. She tied for 22nd at the C-USA Championships. Haycock compiled a 74.5 stroke average in the Fall and 75.8 in the Spring.
Samantha Morrell claimed medalist honors at the Bucknell Spring Break Tournament and was named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week twice this spring. She fired a final round 69 to win medalist honors in that event. As a team, ODU won the UNCW Seahawk Classic, finished second in the Bucknell Tournament. Morrell's 144 total gave her a two-shot win over Nova Southeastern's Linnea Johansson. In five of her last six matches, including the final two of the fall season, she has finished second (LPGA Xavier), fifth (Campbell) and fourth (JMU), third at Pinehurst and now a first place at Bucknell. Sam finished 10th at the C-USA Championships, just five strokes behind the winner. She currently compiled a 75.7 stroke average. Morrell was a two-time All-CAA selection and graduated in May with a degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish.
The University of Virginia senior Brittany Altomare earned every vote for state Player of the Year. James Madison University head coach Paul Gooden was named Coach of the Year, while Olivia Bowling from Randolph-Macon College was tabbed as VaSID Rookie of the Year.
