Old Dominion University’s athletic program finished 101st out of 286 Division I programs in the 2012-13 Division I Learfield Sports Director’s Cup final standings, leading all Colonial Athletic Association members.

Monarch athletic teams compiled 168 points in the competition, led by NCAA post season appearances from football, men’s soccer, field hockey, and wrestling.  The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10 men’s.

Old Dominion’s performance led all CAA schools, followed by William and Mary (128) and Hofstra (130). ODU became a member of Conference USA on July 1 and C-USA schools, Old Dominion’s performance would have finished fifth in the league, behind departing members Tulsa (54), Central Florida (67), SMU (78) and Memphis (86).

“Finishing in the top 35 per cent of all the Division I programs and ahead of our CAA competitors this past year is a great accomplishment for our athletic programs,” says Old Dominion athletic director Dr. Wood Selig. “We look forward to competing at a high level this year as a member of Conference USA and challenging our sports teams to reach new heights.”

Stanford captured its 19th straight Learfield Sports Director’s Cup title with 1261.25 total points, just 16.50 points ahead of second place Florida.
